I don't know about you but I want more being unapologetically different. More weirdness. Less everyone trying to be the same. Less homogonous living.
Because we’re all unique. We’re all built slightly different.
We all have a different flavour.
A different way of being but we hide it sometimes so we can fit it. So we can be accepted.
But what if we're accepted even more because of our quirks?
What if that's what makes the world better? Instead of trying to fit into a box we all get to create our own? That kind of world is way more interesting to me.
I want to see how your eyes light up when you talk about the thing that interests you most. I want to unabashedly share whatever new hobby or thing I'm obsessing about and have it get your energy going to dive into something that makes you feel like that too.
On that note I’ve really gone down the rabbit hole of human design and all forms of astrology lately which I’m forever fascinated by as it shown me even more how unique we are and the gifts each of us bring to the table. And when we express them the world becomes this beautiful kaleidoscope of colour instead of muted beige. I've learned so much about myself with human design. Like anything I'm still all about discernment but there's things I've been experimenting that have changed how I feel day to day in so many ways.
One being how I'm built to digest things; I have a low sound digestion which means I prefer silence when I eat or take in information. Lately I've been really intentional about no music or other noise when I'm eating, even when I've been out to eat on my own I put earplugs in or have some super chill music in my earbuds. It's made such a difference in how I feel during and after eating. My satisfaction level is higher and I’m really able to savour each bite, noticing everything even more that I did before.
Can I prove that human design is a real thing? Nope. Is this all in my head? Maybe. But can we really prove anything? For me, it comes down to finding the things that help me trust me more. Because I’m kind of done listening to what others tell me when actually I’m the only one that truly knows me best.
This is the thing.
When we choose what works for us and let go of what we think we should be doing it changes everything.
We all get to create our own little world within our world and when we do I think we're all better for it. Owning who we are completely and really tapping into the joy that’s there when we do.
This is where cooking comes in and how I want to approach it.
For me it's teaching you how to cook delicious things for yourself. Not what I think you should eat or what someone else is telling you to but instead having a strong foundation in the kitchen that gives you the freedom and flexibility to be able to cook anything and make it delicious.
Cooking has so much power.
When you're able to cook in this way you get to choose. And there's so much satisfaction when you put in the work. Because yes, cooking involves effort. More than clicking a button to have Uber arrive at your door.
But devoting yourself to cooking something delicious is where real nourishment can be found. It's where you get to reap the rewards in so many ways. And we all deserve that. It's what makes life even sweeter.
Science can’t prove that this is real. Just like most you get to discern
Science proves things until it also proves it’s not
So that’s it right. It’s our choice.
I look at everything now as how can this bring me closer to the real me? How can it make the life I’m creating better? How can it help me to savour things more?
Want to play a game with me this week?
One thing I think we all can use a little more of is play. The kitchen is just the spot for that, so here’s a game you might want to try to help you tap more into your intuitive cooking side this week, this month, or this whole season! It’s a practice and the more you do it, the better you get at trusting yourself and knowing what you like.
Instead of reaching for a recipe, go to the farmers market, grocery store, or your kitchen and just let yourself notice what ingredients stand out to you.
Notice what looks good to you and how your body reacts.
Touch them, smell them, if you’re offered a sample, taste them.
What ideas come to mind? How could you cook it? What flavour combinations could you use to make it even more delicious. What else would compliment it?
Use you imagination and see your meal coming together from start to finish? What would you want it to taste like? Look like? Feel like with that first bite?
Now grab those ingredients and get in the kitchen and experiment. Play. Make something delicious!
